Should You Always Retry a Failed Payment?

Retrying a failed payment can be effective, but only if there’s a good reason to believe the outcome will be different.

Before submitting another collection, ask why the payment failed. Was it a temporary cash flow issue? Was the collection attempted before payday? Or does the bank response indicate a more serious problem?

A well-timed retry can recover revenue that might otherwise be lost. Repeating the same collection without changing anything, however, often creates unnecessary costs and customer frustration.

The goal isn’t to retry more payments. It’s to make better recovery decisions.
