Real-Time Clearing

Amplifin supports Real-Time Clearing (RTC) payments, allowing you to transfer funds directly into a recipient’s South African bank account with near-immediate availability. RTC payments are particularly suited to time-sensitive credit disbursements where
immediate access to funds is required. The solution offers a secure, bank-to-bank
transfer method with full transaction visibility, reducing delays and eliminating
uncertainty around payment receipt.
With RTC, businesses can offer faster payouts while maintaining the reliability and

Make Payments FAQs

What are the different ways I can make payments through Amplifin?

Amplifin supports three credit payment rails for electronic funds transfers (EFT Credits). These allow you to disburse funds not only to any South African bank account but also directly to FNB eWallet accounts, providing a critical lifeline to unbanked or mobile-centric recipients.

  • PayShap: Ideal for immediate, low-cost payments using a bank account number (bank account only, not available to eWallet accounts). Amplifin allows payments to be made to consumer bank accounts up to a maximum of R50,000 (industry profile-dependent).
  • Real-Time Clearing (RTC): Designed for immediate settlement of larger amounts (up to R5 million, industry profile-dependent) during business hours.
  • EFT Same Day Value: The standard solution for non-urgent disbursements where credits are processed on the same business day, provided the payment is initiated before the defined daily cut-off times (Monday-Friday, excluding Public Holidays).

The timing depends on the payment stream chosen. PayShap and RTC payments are processed in near-real-time (within seconds). Same Day Value transfers ensure funds are available on the same day – usually around 7pm, provided the payment is initiated before the defined daily cut-off times.

PayShap is a modern, cost-effective South African payment rail designed for immediate transactions. Through Amplifin, you can use PayShap to pay up to a maximum of R50,000 (industry profile-dependent) directly to a recipient’s bank account instantly, making it an ideal solution for real-time payments.

Yes. Amplifin facilitates payments to FNB eWallet accounts in near-real time. Recipients can withdraw these funds from an FNB ATM by obtaining a temporary ATM PIN via their cellphone or by using an Amplifin-branded Feza Card. You can also choose between “Sponsored” payments (where the business covers the first withdrawal fee) or “Unsponsored” payments.

With a Sponsored FNB eWallet payment, the business pays for the recipient’s first withdrawal at an FNB ATM. With an Unsponsored payment, the withdrawal fee is deducted from the recipient’s balance in advance, meaning the recipient receives the total value less the withdrawal fee. The ATM withdrawal fees are levied at a discounted rate.

Real-time payments (PayShap or RTC) are ideal for:

  • Urgent payouts
  • Customer refunds
  • Loan disbursements
  • Time-sensitive transactions

EFT Same Day credits are better suited for non-urgent, cost-sensitive payments.

Key benefits include:

  • Faster access to funds
  • Reduced cash handling risks
  • Improved security and traceability
  • Nationwide accessibility
  • Better customer experience

No. If a recipient does not have a bank account, businesses can use FNB eWallet payments as an alternative, allowing recipients to withdraw these funds from an FNB ATM by obtaining a temporary ATM PIN via their cellphone or by using an Amplifin-branded Feza Card.
