Continuing to Make a Difference: Amplifin and the Lunchbox Fund

Amplifin is proud to share the latest impact of our ongoing collaboration with the Lunchbox Fund, a relationship that has continued since 2020 in support of early childhood nutrition and development in vulnerable communities across South Africa.

During the July 2025 to June 2026 reporting period, Amplifin’s contribution helped provide 41,525 meals to 215 children attending 13 Early Learning Playgroups across Nelson Mandela Bay (Eastern Cape), Umzimyathi (KwaZulu-Natal), and Thaba Chweu (Mpumalanga).

For many children in vulnerable communities, food insecurity remains a daily reality. The fortified breakfasts provided through these programmes help ensure that children start their day with a reliable source of nutrition, giving them the energy and nourishment needed to participate in early learning activities, engage with their peers, and make the most of the opportunities available to them each day.

The importance of nutrition in early childhood development cannot be overstated. Quality early childhood development (ECD) is globally recognised as one of the most impactful investments a country can make in its future. Research shows a return on investment in South African childhood nutrition of up to 53 times the initial amount invested. Despite this, 66% of South Africa’s poorest children are not enrolled in any Early Learning Programme, placing them at a disadvantage before they even begin formal schooling.

Through its network of community partners, the Lunchbox Fund supports Early Learning Programmes that provide young children with access to nutritional support, learning opportunities, and developmental stimulation. Children attending these programmes receive a fortified breakfast on arrival and participate in activities designed to support their cognitive, emotional, social, and physical development during some of the most important years of childhood. By combining nutrition with early learning support, these programmes help create stronger foundations for future educational success.

This latest contribution builds on six years of support through our collaboration with the Lunchbox Fund. Since 2020, Amplifin’s support has helped provide more than 128,000 meals to children across South Africa.

While the number of children reached and locations supported may vary from year to year, the purpose remains unchanged: helping create opportunities for children to learn, develop, and reach their full potential.

As we reflect on another successful year, we remain grateful for the work of the Lunchbox Fund and the dedicated individuals who make these programmes possible.

Together, we continue to invest in South Africa’s future by helping ensure that more children have access to the nutrition, care, and developmental support they need during their formative years. Amplifin is continuing its collaboration with the Lunchbox Fund for July 2026 to June 2027, our seventh year supporting early childhood nutrition and development. We’re looking forward to building on what we’ve achieved together, and helping more children get the food and support they need to learn and grow.
